Zheyuan (Ryan) Lai 「赖哲源」

Hi! I am a final-year undergraduate at the National University of Singapore (NUS), pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Statistics with second major in Mathematics and minor in Computer Science. My academic interests lie broadly in the theory and applications of stochastic processes, machine learning, sampling, and optimization. I’m always excited to explore new ideas across these areas!

During my undergraduate studies, I have been fortunate to work with Prof. Yifan Chen at UCLA on gradient flows for sampling, Prof. Michael Choi at NUS on submodular optimization and Markov chains, Prof. Lihan Wang at NUS on sampling algorithms for molecular dynamics, and Prof. Xiang Zhou’s group at CityUHK on sampling and generative modeling with diffusion and Lévy processes.

I am currently applying for PhD programs in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, and Data Science, to begin in Fall 2027.

I go by Ryan in everyday life. Outside of academics, I enjoy photography, hiking, and cycling.
